Hampi - weekend getaway from Bangalore

Poetry in stone as Hampi - the capital of the Vijaynagar empire is the former - often called, is a perfect weekend getaway from Bangalore in Karnataka. UNESCO World Heritage site and famous tourist place in its Hampi was a sunny day beautiful city with countless temples and palaces. City had all his greatness in the second half of the 16th Century, when they attacked by the Mughals.


Today, more than 600 years later, the ruins of Hampi is attracting thousands of visitors make the quickest way to Hampi only for transport to a distant era. Hampi was calculated Harihara and Bukka, two brothers from the family Sangama in 1336 AD. In all the 23 kings of the four dynasties ruled the country for 300 years.

Krishnadeva Raya was his legendary ruler, was defeated at the Battle of Talikota in 1564. His defeat led to a massive plundering of Hampi. It is said that these assets were Hampi, it took hundreds of elephants and enjoy more than six months to Hampi!

Not surprisingly, Hampi was recorded on exotic palaces, beautiful temples, impressive power, lively markets, a stable royal elephants. The center was the many sights, many of which are now in ruins. But these ruins are what attract many tourists to Hampi to. An ideal place for an interest in history, culture and art, Hampi is one of the historic gems of Karnataka.
