Ahmedabad: One of the Cities which cherishes a rich historical background – Part2

Next was the Shahibaug Palace, built by Shahjahan, which is now converted to Sardar Patel Memorial. This was followed by Nagina Wadi, which is a summer palace built by Sultan Qutub-ud-Din on a lake island. The fort which must be visited is the Bhadra Fort in the old city. It was initially had 12 entrance gates, of which Teen Darwaza is still left intact.

As the history starts to engross, the thought of looking more into the culture of this city overrules all other thoughts. What else could be the next places for visit better than the museums? So the next places to visit is to Calico Museum. It has a collection of rare textiles and costumes dating back to the 17th century, as well as furniture and crafts. Now one can know why Ahmedabad is called ‘The Manchester of India’. The next visits should be to The LD Museum of Indology and the NC Mehta Miniature Gallery, the Kite Museum, the Utensils Museum at Vishalla and the Tribal Museum. It really helps to have a look at the finest art and craftsmanship in our country.

Besides having a look at the ancient glory of this city, one can always focus on developments which have taken place in the modern era. The infrastructure of this city is just awesome. The shopping malls that are present here are truly an inspiration. The malls which must be visited are Iscon Mall, Himalaya Mall, Pyramid Mall, Parsvnath Mall. These malls have an excellent shopping environment. They have varied stores and an excellent collection of items. The food courts offer mouth watering delicious food items. People just love themselves over here.

Talking about the various market places which are worth visit and shopping includes: Paldi area for embroidery from the Kutch and Saurashtra regions, Rangeela pol for bandhinis (tie and dye work), Madhupura for traditional mojri footwear and Gulbai Tekra for idols. Mirror work handicrafts are available at the Law Garden.

Finally, at the end of the journey, the knowledge about the rich heritage of the country is far more enriched. One can see the reason why the prime educational institutions are built here. The culture this place possesses is truly an inspiration for everyone. It was worth a visit over here.
