Kurukshetra - Holy place of Bhagwad Gita

Kurukshetra- This historic town is where Lord Krishna is believed to have preached the Bhagwad Gita to a hesitant Arjuna on the battle4fields of the Mahabharata. Kurukshetra is a 2 and half hour drive from Delhi along the Grand Trunk (Karna) Road.

It’s said that to bathe at the Brahma Sarovar here during an eclipse or on amavasya nights is spiritually cleansing. Visit the Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple in the centre of this water body. Nearby sits the Laxmi Narayan Temple. Another lake held in great esteem by the devout is the Sannehit Sarovar (about a km from Laxmi Sarovar), believed to have been formed by water that flowed out of Brahma’s navel.

Kurukshetra, visited by anumber of the Sikh Gurus, is also of great import for the Sikhs. Guru Nanak passed through this town; the place he stayed at is known as Gurudwara Sidhbati. There’s also a gurudwara dedicated to Guru Hargobind. On the banks of the Brahma Sarovar is on in memory of Guru Gobind Singh.
